PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
1.ADMISSION FOR PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS
It is our policy to make the benefits and services of our educational programmes available to students without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, colour, nationality, ancestry, sex, handicap, marital status, veteran status. Admission is provisional in the first instance and can be withdrawn at any point in time if there is any need to do so.
CONDITIONS FOR ADMISSION
General Conditions for Admission into the Polytechnic. All admissions into the National Diploma(ND) programmes offered by the Polytechnics in the country are now done by the Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board
(JAMB). The final admission of the candidate however rests on meeting the minimum admission requirements as laid down by N.B.T.E. In the case of admissions into other programmes offered by the Polytechnic.
National Diploma (HND) and Preliminary National Diploma (PRE-ND) the following procedure apply:
i. An application form is usually obtained from the Institution for a fee and completed forms are returned to the Institution.
ii. The admission of a candidate into a programme is the prerogative of the Academic Board of the Institution which ensures that the candidates meet the minimum entry requirements for the programme as laid down by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
(I) One Year Pre National Diploma (PRE-ND) Full-Time.
Candidates must possess four WASC/GCE O’Level/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB Passes in four subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings.
(II) National Diploma (ND) Two Years (Full- Time) or Three Years (Part Time Week-end).
Candidates must posses WASC/GCE/’O’LEVEL/SSCE/NABTEB/NECO
Passes at credit level in four subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings OR four credit passes in relevant subjects obtained at Pre-ND examination of an NBTE Accredited Polytechnic or similar postsecondary Technical Certificates (NTC), National Business Certificate
(NBC) with credit passes in all the trade modules, three academic subjects relevant to the JAMB-PCE examination which is conducted annually.
(III) Higher National Diploma (HND) Two Years Full- Time or Three Years (Part-Time Weekend).
Acquisition of a National Diploma in the relevant NBTE accredited programme plus relevant qualifications specified in ll and at least one year post – ND Industrial work experience.
Specific Admission Requirements:
A. ONE YEAR PRELIMINARY DIPLOMA (PRE ND) FULL-TIME PROGRAMME
(i) Accountancy
(ii) Banking & Finance
(iii) Business Studies
(iv) Secretarial Studies
Four ‘O’ Level, WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB passes in English Language, Mathematics and any two of the following: Economics, Business Methods; Principles of Accounts; Literature in English; Commerce; History;
Statistics; Geography; Government; one Science subject. For Secretariat Studies, Mathematics is desirable but not compulsory.
B .NATIONAL DIPLOMA (ND) TWO YEARS (FULL-TIME OR THREE YEARS(PART-TIME WEEKEND)
