Admissions
Lagos City Polytechnic offers the benefits and services of its educational programmes to all eligible students without discrimination based on race, religion, colour, nationality, ancestry, sex, handicap, marital status, veteran status. General Conditions for Admission
The Joint Admissions and Matriculations Board (JAMB) is in charge of all admissions into the National Diploma (ND) programmes offered by the Polytechnics in the country including LCP. However, if a student meets the minimum admission requirements laid down by the National Board for Technical Education (N.B.T.E), admission to the institution is certain. The Polytechnic’s academic board makes sure that every student meets the minimum entry requirement as stipulated by the NBTE before they are offered admission.

- Purchase an application form for N5, 000, complete the forms and submit them to the Polytechnic.
Conditions for a One Year Pre National Diploma (PRE-ND) Full-Time.
To qualify for admission into the one-year pre-ND programme, candidates must:
- Hold four WASC/GCE O’Level/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB passes in four subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings.
- This means that one must have four ‘O’ Level, WASC/GCE/SSCE/NECO/NABTEB passes in English Language, Mathematics and any two of the following: Economics, Business Methods; Principles of Accounts; Literature in English; Commerce; History; Statistics; Geography; Government; one Science subject. For Secretariat Studies, Mathematics is desirable but not compulsory.
Courses that could be studied in the one-year pre-ND programme include:
- Accountancy
- Banking & Finance
- Business Studies
- Secretarial Studies
Conditions for a Two Year National Diploma (ND) or Three Years (Part-Time).
To qualify for admission into the ND programme, candidates must:
- Hold WASC/GCE/’O’LEVEL/SSCE/NABTEB/NECO passes at credit level in four subjects relevant to the programme at not more than two sittings OR four credit passes in relevant subjects obtained at Pre-ND examination of an NBTE Accredited Polytechnic or similar post-secondary Technical Certificates (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) with credit passes in all the trade modules, three academic subjects relevant to the JAMB-PCE examination which is conducted annually.
Courses that could be studied in the ND programme include
- Accountancy
- Banking & Finance
- Business Studies
Conditions for a Higher National Diploma (Two Years Full- Time or Three Years Part-Time).
To qualify for admission into the HND programme, candidates must possess:
- A National Diploma in the relevant NBTE accredited programme plus relevant qualifications specified in ll and at least one year post – ND Industrial work experience.
